A family (Grandparent, Parents and their kids) face life’s numerous struggles in their individual work and circumstances, while residing in a vibrant neighborhood. The retired father mortgages his house and farm and invests the proceeds in the stock market, only to loose it all during the economic downturn. He is forced to move into an apartment where he faces various problems. The kids struggle to cope with their studies and their grandmother, who seems to be stuck in ancient traditions and the events of the past. The mother is constantly trying to meet societal pressures, while the son who had gone to America as a student, returns with a foreign wife, giving rise to many contradictions with his family members and the neighbors. Abbas and his wife want their son to marry Suleiman’s daughter, a fact which leads to numerous comic situations. The second neighbor “Dr. Huda” finds herself constantly troubled amidst family conflicts and is always out to mend everyone and everything being the neighborhood doctor that she is. Add to this mix, a Syrian teacher, who deals with numerous intellectual, and some not-so-intellectual issues, such as giving in to Abbas’ pestering requests to teach him Arabic (even though he is a chemistry teacher). Along with this staple cast, numerous guests will visit the family throughout this sitcom’s episodes.
